The Generac 40 kW Generator adds well-known features to new improvements with the Protector XG series. The 40kW XG04045 has a 4.5 Liter engine that runs at 1800 RPM under load and 1200 RPM during self-test or at low idle. A NEW Power Zone 420 Controller brings the latest in technology with additional functionality and more features than ever before, including the ability to select the fuel type at the controller without any other modifications. This controller is NFPA 110 capable. This unit is approved in California.

Can I connect this generator to my house?
Only through a transfer switch or an interlock kit installed by a licensed electrician. Never plug a generator into a wall outlet: it can back-feed the utility line and endanger line workers. Connecting safely.
What can it run at the same time?

Does it ship with oil?
It depends on the manufacturer. If oil is included it is listed under What’s in the box; otherwise use the grade given in the owner’s manual before the first start.
Can I use it in the rain?
Not uncovered. Run it on a dry surface under an open, canopy-like cover, at least 20 feet from doors, windows and vents, and never in a garage.
Is installation included?
No. A home standby generator needs a licensed electrician, a licensed gas contractor for the fuel line and local permits. Delivery to your curb or driveway is free.
Can it be shipped to California?
Some generators are not certified for sale in California (not CARB compliant). If the description says this model is not for sale in California, we cannot ship it to a California address.
